I thought that the britax marathon was the one to check out and then recently there were talks of the recaro?a friend of my suggested graco (can't remember the model)
I bought the Britax Marathon, but returned it when I heard so many good things about the Recaro. We bought the Recaro Signo, but we haven't installed it yet.
We just installed the Recaro Como seat in my car this weekend. It is so nice and I love it, but I think it might be too much for my car so it may end up in my husband's car instead. I really like how safe and sturdy it feels, and really like how the buckles work.
If I do switch seats for my car it will be to a Britax Roundabout, because those are supposed to be the best fit for my car model. I'll be really sad if I can't get the Recaro to work, though!
we have the recaro signo and I love, love, love it. We also have the Alpha Omega one, and it's cute, but I don't like it (not as easy to use, the straps are a PITA).
It seems like other carseats have come into favor on this board lately. I'm sticking with my original opinion though. This is the easiest baby gear decision by far. Buy a Britax and never think about it again. We have the Marathon, but if that's too big for your car, the Roundabout is the only other convertible I'd consider.
All our kids car seats are Britax and our kids have loved them! They are very easy to install, use and they seem to be comfy enough for them. We've driven down to Disneyland more than 10 times and the kids have never complained about being in their car seats. The convertible one we have is the Decathalon. If you have a smaller car I recommend the Roundabout as well.
Re: convertible carseat recs?
we just bought the Recaro Signo, it's being shipped!
we read a lot of review that seems to indicate that it's more comfy than the britax, and dh and I liked the look better.
Can't give real experience rec yett, but have fun shopping!

We bought an Alpha Omega Elite. It's ranked 3rd on the Consumer Reports website. Theirs in order is:
1. Evenflo Triumph
2. Britax Roundabout
3. Cosco Alpha Omega Elite
4. Britax Marathon
It was 1/2 the cost of the Britax Boulevard and in my opinion much cushier.
We just got in this week-end, but haven't installed it yet.
