Do you think boy or girl when you hear this name?

A friend of mine just named her son this and I was surprised since I thought it was a girl name.

I think of it as a girl name (probably because it reminds me of Maeve) although I've never heard it used for a girl or boy name.

I've known it to be a girls name. Although I do think its ugly. Poor little guy will have to grow into his name.

only seen it as a girl name. it reminds me of the mavis beacon software i used in primary school to learn to type.

I know a Maevis (a girl) and we call her Macy for short. I think it is a pretty nickname...
