Recomend your face wash...

I've been using Proactiv for years and need to find something I can use during pregnancy that actually works. What do you recomend?

Re: Recomend your face wash...

  • I use Nuetrogena Acne Control. It's an orange and white tube.

  • ditto pp..I have been using the neutrogena wash since hs...I love it!
  • I use everything Clinque.  I brought it all the my doc and he said everything in it was fine.  Then I use a prescription (Clindagel) for a topical gel.
  • I've started using an Aveeno warming face scrub and I've been getting tons of compliments on my skin the past couple of weeks. I've never had bad acne so I don't know how it would work for that, but my skin loves it!
  • Mary Kay has a 3 step system I am considering trying. I have been using ProActiv as well. My consultant used ProActiv for awhile as well and then switched to Mary Kay and was very happy with it.
  • I use Purpose and Dove Gentle Exfoliating Foaming face washes.  I love them both.
  • I've just been using cetaphil and exfoliating with a rough washcloth.  My skin was really bad for a while and at that point I used some type of zit cream in addition.  I can't remember what kind it was, but nothing really helped the zits since they were due to the change in hormones.  My skin finally cleared up at the end of 2nd tri.

  • I know you should avoid face creams / washes with Vitamin A (retinoids) during pregnancy but what other ingredients should I be avoiding?  I'm not using ProActiv but I didn't think it contained retinoids.

Does anyone know if benzoyl peroxide is safe (ie Clearsil oinment?)

  • i ordered this last week. so far its working well. i had been using prescription pimple medicine before this...

  • My understanding is that benzoyl peroxide is fine, but salicylic acid (which is aspirin) is not.
  • Proactive actually gave me hives.  I use Cosmedix Gentle Cleanse, it is a little expensive but well worth it!
  • I always use natural soaps from www.shopaot.com.
  • I was using proactive and when my doc told me no benzoyl peroxide, salycic acid or sulfur, I had to look for something else. I used cetaphil, which is what I used in high school, til last week but was still breaking out on my chin. Friday I bought a product from a line called "Basq" at pea in the pod and my chin has already cleared up...seriously. It has oak root extract and ylang ylang in it, and was formulated for pregnant people, and is awesome. I love it so far!
