Do you give your child extra DHA? We've been buying the whole milk with extra DHA but it is expensive.
I think we will start a vitamin or something once he is over two with extra DHA. But whenever I would ask my pediatrician if it was necessary she said she hadn't read up on it enough to give an educated answer. Hmmm...
What do you do?
Re: Do you DHA?
Ridge can get DHA's from fish as well. ? The colder the water the higher the DHA's in the fish. ?(Because they wear more fat to keep warm) ?Salmon and tuna are high in DHA's.?
If your concern is mercury in fish or he just doesn't eat fish, you could put some flax oil into his milk or yogurt maybe? ?Or give him flax seeds on top of his cereal or yogurt?
I have seen (and accidentally bought, once) the DHA enriched milk. ?It is expensive. ?Its nearly $6 for a half gallon. ?And a half gallon in this house is like a days worth of milk. ? ? Maybe some flax oil can be more helpful?
Good luck. ?
?
She only gets DHA from breast milk if you are getting plenty of DHA. ? Fish and flaxseed. ??
When I was pg I ate sardines on crackers. ? High in DHA. ? ?It was a total pregnancy thing though because now looking at sardines makes me gag. ?
Ohh... I didn't think about flax, that is a good idea. He won't eat fish. I've tried. Every once in a blue moon he will eat a fish stick but I don't think that has anything in it.
I take a DHA vitamin while preggo and try to eat salmon about once a week or so.
Yep, the Horizon milk is EXPENSIVE. I was thinking we could be done with it when he was two but the brain grows so much until 5 that I wanted to keep it up.
