Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Do you give your 7 month old Gerber puffs?

A couple of people have told me to try those Gerber puffs as a fist finger food. I looked for them today and on the container it says for babies 1 year and older?? Does anyone give them to their DC anyway?

  • We started them at 6.5 months.  DS doesn't like purees so those and bananas are really the only solids he eats.

  • No. ?We're not giving him anything but purees til at least 9 months, per my ped.
  • We just started giving them to him last week. At first I just gave him 1/2 of one to make sure he could handle it, and it was fine.

He actually can already pick them up (pincher grasp)! I was surprised as I thought they didn't learn that until later on.

  • We started them around 6.5 months. She does great with them.
  • Yep... we started right around 7 months. DD LOVES them... she gets so excited and squeals when we pull out the Puffs container!! lol

  • No we were told to wait until 9 months for any finger foods per pedi.  She said it is still too much of a choking hazard this young.
  • yep! we started around 6 months too...she choked on one at first...so I stopped for a few weeks and tried them again in smaller pieces...she does great with them now! She loves them.

We started even earlier with mum mums...she's never had a problem with these and they keep her busy for a good while:O)

  • DJ still cant do them. ?in time...
  • We started giving them to DD at 7 months and she loves them!
  • Started them at 6.5 months! DS loves them. Then we moved on to yogert melts, mum mums, banana chunks, graham crackers and pasta.
  • Yes. We started with Mum Mums, but she got puffs sometime around 7.5 months. I have searched my can of Puffs up and down and cannot find anything on it that mentions waiting until a year old. How strange!?! Mine has a label that says it's okay for babies who can crawl, pull themselves up, etc.

  • We started at around 5.5 months, after her first teeth were in.  I only let her have one or two at that point, but she never had a problem with them.  Now she wants them every time I put her in her high chair.  She can gobble a handful down in a couple of minutes.  My pedi did give us her blessing before we ever gave them to DD.

  • Our pedi recommended waiting until a first tooth appeared...still waiting!  I bought the Happy Baby puffs, too, the other day in preparation of the big event!
