Looking for a new OG/GYN in Abington

I previously used WomenCare OB/GYN and I would like to find another practice for my next pregnancy.  They had an office in the Abington Memorial hospital, and another office off campus on Blair Mill Road.

I would like to stay with a practice at or near the hospital (for convenience), Lansdale or Horsham area would also work.

Trying to conceive #2 since May 2006. Started IVF in 2008; IVF #1 cancelled (poor responder); IVF #2 cancelled (poor responder); IVF #3 BFP (MC day 26); IVF #4 BFN; IVF #5 BFN; Vas Rev Jan 2010 - azoospermia to date; DS IUI October 2010 - BFN; IUI November - Cancelled --- BREAK from November to March (on DHEA)(FSH from 15 to 5)(AMH 0.1, no chamge) --- FINALLY --- DS IUI March (19th) - Beta 4-5 (16dpo) = BFP (205)!!!! --- Beta #2 4-7 (18dpo) = 477 BFP!!! --- 7-11-11 IT'S A BOY!!!!

  • I'm with Abington Womens Primary Healthcare group and would recommend them.  They have offices at Abington hospital, Willow Grove and one other (I forget where).

  • i am at abington OBGYN associates. they have an office in Abington Hospital, in Horsham and in Warrington. I see dr roberts and like her a lot. but i haven't met the other doctors yet.
  • Hello-

I am actually new to that practice- any reason why you are leaving?

I had a really bad experience at Women's Healthcare Group in Huntingdon Valley- so I would definitely suggest staying away from there...I had a m/c and the doctor who I saw was extremely unprofessional in how he dealt with it. ?

I would appreciate any info you could give- so I can plan ahead as I am thinking of beginning ttc and Need a good practice. ?

    Thanks so much:)?

  • I went to Woman's Healthcare group (the NE philly location and the HV one) and had a good experience. There is only 1 male doc I don' recommend. Mine was so nice. I spent a lot of time there going 2 weeks overdue and high risk.

  • Sorry it took so long to reply (computer problems).

I hate to post negative issues, especially about doctors.

But, one doctor in particular at that practice is on my "bad doc" list.

Her name is Dr. Rappe.  I really LOVED all of the other doctors, but just had a really bad vibe about her in particular.  I was on my third doctor at the delivery room when SHE showed up.

I was in labor for over 24 hours when they finally decided to take me in for an emergency c-section.  My epidural must have moved in my back, bc I started to get numbness that moved from my torso to my chest.  I know this isn't her fault (but keep reading).

Needless to say, I needed to be completely put under for my c-section.  Finally recovered over 6 hours later (and couldn't hold my son for almost 24 hours due to the drugs).

Her negligence comes in her "inaction".  They should have taken me in HOURS before.

Mind you, I am fine and so is my son (now 3 years old).  It just really upsets me that NOONE (except a nurse at the hospital) ever told me about the complications in my delivery.  The doctor said everything was FINE (bull)!!!  I think they were trying to hide something.  My fiance wasn't even allowed in the room for the delivery (everything went fine --- then why couldn't he be in the room).

Here is the part that I was telling you about before (read ahead).  Not three months later, a friend of mine from work told me that her cousin lost a son because of this women's "inaction".  The details are far too upseting to discuss here, but the lady lost her child and currently has a malpractice suite against Dr Rappe, the practice, a nurse at the hospital, and another suite against the hospital.  She plans to keep this going in court until this doctor is no longer in practice.  The hard part for her was that she also had troubles trying to conceive.  It was atleast a year and a half until she was able to conceive.

I'm sharing this with you bc this women wants people to spread the word about her loss.

She is still in practice (I just googled her), but I would hate to see her inaction (a third time) cause anyone any harm!

  • Thank you so VERY much for sharing your story...so sorry to hear that your experience was so horrible- and I am even more sorry to hear about the other woman. I will certainly be beginning my search for a new practice- no need for more bad experiences with doctors. ?

    Good luck to you!?

  • I'm also with Abington Women's Primary, and love them. Especially Dr. Keen and Dr. Murphy. I go to both the Abington Hospital & Willow Grove locations.

I believe they also have an office in Bucks county.  I highly recommend them - I LOVE my OB there!

  • The doctors at this practice are as follows: Vivian N. Greenberg, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.O.G. Sherry L. Blumenthal, M.D., M.S.Ed., F.A.C.O.G. Carolyn A. Piccone, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. Sandra M. Rappe, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. Patricia A. Sullivan, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. Sharon M. Rice, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.O.G. Audrey F. Miller, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. Libby Harman, C.R.N.P.

I liked all of them except doc Rappe.  See www.wcobgyn.net for more information.

I just checked out their website, and it seems the only two doctors still practicing at that office since I had my son are Dr Rappe and Dr Piccone (and Sherry Blumenthal).  The two doctors I REALLY liked at that practice are gone!  I will have to try and find them.
