I posted yesterday that we've been looking through magazines, cutting out letters (we'll pick one letter each day and find as many as we can), then cutting out pictures of things that start w/ that letter and pasting them to paper or poster-board to make little letter posters.?

Cute Idea DD is really into letters lately might have to try this!
We do a shape search and a color search with a little magnifying glass. We search either in books or around the house. I name shapes and colors for her to find and she names them for me to find.
DD has one of those foam alphabet floor mats, so I'll ask her to bring me a certain letter (this allows me to lay on the couch and still feel like a halfway-decent parent) or to jump onto it, and she has fun with that.
When we read books together, she loves to look for things in the illustrations (i.e. "Can you find a red shoe?" or "Do you see something you could wear on your head?"), which is good for her vocabulary when I ask for something she's never heard of--she'll always remember it the next time. She also likes to count objects in the illustrations, so she's getting pretty good at pointing in order and counting them correctly now.
I do flashcards with him. They have letters and pictures on them with words too. He likes to tell me all the letters in the words and identify which letter the word stars with. I also do some in Italian with him to teach him italian words. He also likes his Thomas the Train laptop computer. It has lots of learning activities on it that we do together (numbers, letters, sounds of letters, etc...).
