Girls Names? WDYT

We are having a really hard time but we have come up with 3.

Ireland
Laurenne
Ayla (said Eyela)

What do you think?

Re: Girls Names? WDYT

  • Ireland- No, I really despise place names

Laurenne- Do you mean Lauren? Or is it pronounced Laureen? Nothing wrong with Lauren, not a fan of Laureen

Ayla- I believe the proper spelling is Isla but not positive. Either way, I think it sounds pretty, just NMS.

Ditto all this. Lauren is good, but spell it Lauren.

    Me three.
  • NMS, sorry!

Ireland- I love the country, but not as a name. I like a lot of Irish names, but not this...

Laurenne- like pronounced, Laur-ENN? No. I like Lauren though.

Ayla will be pronounced Eye-la, as well as AY-la.  I like Lila and Leila though..

Ditto all of this. If you are going to pronounce Ayla as Isla then I would go ahead and spell it that way otherwise she will be called "A-luh" all the time.

I don't love any of them, but Ireland isn't bad.?
  • I have never heard Ayla pronounced the way you have it. Maybe it's just me, but it irks me when people make up pronunciations for established names. The other names are nms.

  • I agree with the others.  No to Ireland, no to the spellings of Laurenne and Ayla.

Lauren and Isla are not bad names.  I actually like both very much, just bad spellings.

  • I don't like Ireland. If you're really set on it, you might consider Irelyn. I think it's less location-like than Ireland.

Laurenne is pretty, but isn't Lauren said the same way? Don't subject your child to having to spell her name her whole life unless it's that important to you.

I like Ayla, although I've heard it pronounced "A (long a)-la."

    Blank!
  • I really like Ayla! very cute and unique!

  • Ireland.  NMS.  I also dislike Paris, London, and Brooklyn as children's names.

Laurenne.   If you are going to pronounce it like Lauren, spell it like Lauren. Lauren spelled correctly is lovely. Spelled like Laurenne is just ugly.  OR,   If you want it pronounced like Laureen, spell it that way.

Ayla (said Eyela).   If you want it pronounced eye-la, spell it Isla.  But know it will still get said wrong often.   Spelled the way you have it, almost everyone will say A-la.

Ayla's from Clan of the Cave Bear, not made up. I like it the best.

  • Ireland one of the few trends I like... but hideously trendy nonetheless
    Laurenne don't like spelling
    Ayla (said Eyela) NMS

Out of your list I vote for Ireland.

  • I like Ayla! Although she may spend life correcting people when they pronounce it!
  • I'm with most... Ireland is terrible, if it is Lauren then spell it that way, and Ayla is better spelled Isla. All of the names are NMS however.

  • I say Ayla, spelled Isla. I love that name. That is what we are going to name our daughter if we have a girl! :)

Ayla (said Eyela)- I would say this A-la
  • Laurenne.

  • Ireland? Can you imagine her having to put that on a resume?

Ayla is the prettiest. Though I prefer the spelling Isla.
