Ok, for some reason my clicky poll won't work.. everytime I hit post... NOTHING! ::frustrated::
I don't think this has been asked in a while, but I was just wondering...
Who is going to breastfeed & who isn't? Could you please also include why you are or aren't?
I'm trying to decide for myself & was just curious what your thoughts were...
TIA!
Re: Are you going to Breastfeed?
I definately plan to BF, it is so good for the baby and me, the bonding seems un-beatable and you can't beat it financially.
I am going to give it another whirl. I BF'd DS for about 2 months and I'm not going to lie. I HATED it. It was hard. My supply sucked (he'd feed for an hour on me and STILL take a full bottle). I'm hoping this time goes much smoother.
One thing though: If it doesn't work out I am NOT going to beat myself up over it like I did with DS.
I would like to breastfeed and pump. If for some reason it does not work out I will go to formula.
Our decision for me bf was that it was extrememly beneficial for the baby and in some cases relieves symptoms postpartum. And honestly it just seemed easier than fussing about finding the correct formula for the babe.
Good luck with whatever decision you and DH make!
Definitely.
I did with DS, and the first month was pretty hard, but after that it's SO convenient. I switched DS to formula when I went back to work when he was about 6 months, and for me bf was a million times easier. I hated bottles.
If you decide to bf, just be prepared for it to be tough for a while. It hurts really bad, and it will feel like it's ALL you do for a little bit. Just know that it gets so much easier though.
This time I'm going to try to bf all the way until 1 year. It's a PITA to pump at school (I'm a teacher), but it will be worth it for me.
[This is all in addition to the fact that I believe it's better for the baby.]
Nope.
I had a breast reduction 1 1/2 years ago & truly doubt my boobs will do anything...I still can't feel them.
Selfishly, I fought the insurance company for 4 years, spent $3000 to have them operated on, & I just cannot go through that again (& my surgeon said that the longer I BF, the more risk I run of needing the surgery or a lift again).
Plus, I don't have a job where I can pump at work & I will probably be back in the office 6-8 weeks pp. So I would only be able to BF 6 weeks max.
This.
This happend to my sister too with her DS. GL this go around!
I love this. That is reason enough. Lol.
pPROM at 27 weeks, Birdy born at 28 weeks at 2lb 7oz.
I am not going to. My daughter went straight to formula and this one will to. Honestly, it weirds me out. And I just couldn't imagine doing nothing but feeding my baby for that first month or so. I was so glad that my husband, mom, etc. could feed Rylie when she was first born so that I could sleep. I am so glad I didn't have a baby attached to me all hours of the day and night!
I am not going to breastfeed.
When I was pregnant with my DS I was totally pro breastfeeding and I just could not see any other way of doing it.
When DS was born, I tried and tried, it just didn't work for me. My supply was horrible. I have a very large chest and it was hard to manipulate. Nothing seemed to go right. After DS had been home for a week he was loosing weight and we ended up having to stay in the hospital with him for one night because he was getting dehydrated. I beat myself up about this, but kept trying. Eventually I decided that this was in fact not the best route for DS or myself. I switched to formula when DS was about 4 weeks old.
I think it is a wonderful thing and I have the upmost respect for those women who can do this - I'm actually kind of jealous, but the reality is that it is not for everyone.
Yes, or I will try my hardest, for the first three months.
After that, I'll be going back to work and haven't decided what I'll do.
I will. We were actually really fortunate because my son would switch between the bottle and the breast right away. I would pump and my husband could also feed him.
I only breastfed for 5 months, but will definitely plan to do it again. Not only is it good for baby, it help me loose almost all my weight by 6 weeks postpartum. Also, it saves A LOT of money (that's just an added perk!)
I plan on trying to! I hope it works out for me and the LO.
I'm doing it because it's healthy for the baby.
After a loss at 13wks and years dealing with IF and failed treatments (3 failed IUI and 1 failed IVF), we have been blessed with DS (surprise BFP) and now his little sister (2nd round of clomid and TI) on her way.
I plan on BFing as i did with my DD. I was able to BF her for 7 months and then my supply just spontaneously dried up over a matter of a few days. It is hard work (some days you feel like you have a baby attached to your boob all day and then pumping to have a frozen supply for daycare or whatever) and you get really sore at the beginning, but looking back, it was all worth it to me.
Honestly, when I was pregnant with DD I was completely on the fence of whether to BF or not. I just decided to give it a try so I didn't have any regrets if I would wonder later on and also because of the benefits breast milk provides for your LO. I am really glad I did. I loved that time with her and the way it made me feel as a mother is something I just can't explain.
GL with your decision!
Definitely! ?It's healthier for the baby, it's extra mommy-baby bonding time, and it's cheaper and easier than using formula. ?
Oh and there's this: Traces of a chemical used in rocket fuel were found in baby formula samples! ?
This is what I have been leaning towards, but after reading the 1st few pages of WTE the 1st year I'm like, oh Gosh, maybe I need to BF!
