Pregnant after a Loss

How can you tell

if you're having braxton hicks or baby is just pushing on you?  I keep feeling pressure and my stomache will be hard in areas, but not sure if she's just pushing on my uterus or if it's contracting...

So I guess I should fill you in on the backstory here...a coworkers baby's mama is one week ahead of me in pregnancy and just went into preterm labor due to a UTI...apparently this brings on labor.  Well they stopped labor but she's dilated to 1 and they have killed infection.  But all the chaos has got me way more aware of what my uterus is doing because I realize that I could have had the same thing happen to me!

Re: How can you tell

  • When you have BH your entire stomach gets hard. I didn't think I would be able to tell, but when I started getting them, I knew exactly what they were- it felt so different from anything else.

  • ditto txbabs.  Your whole stomach will get hard.  When I think I'm having one I poke several different places on my belly.  If they are all hard I figure it's a BH.  If it's hard in one or 2 places and no where else, than it's the baby pressing out against your uterus.

  • I agree you'll know. When I've had the few that I've had I could just feel that it was different in my stomach. It was odd & when I pushed any where on my belly it was rock solid.
