swollen bottom eye lid and alittle crusy = pink eye?

the boy I watch came in with a swollen bottom eye lid, crust in the corner and looks like it could be alittle red in the corner..told his mom she needed to take him and get it checked...should I have?  If it was pink eye, I dont want him around the other kids I watch

    the white of the eye usually is red with pink eye.  This sounds like it may be more of a sty than true pink eye.  There are OTC pink eye drops now that work well.

    maybe not a cold, but a virus manifesting itself in the eye instead of a full-on cold...either way, good to get checked out, will need some good prescription meds to clear up
