Intertrigo behind ears?

Behind my son's ears keep getting this weird sort of oozy/itchy/irritated patch.  We asked the Dr @ his 4 month appt and he said it's just "intertrigo" and to make sure it's dry and that we could use a little hydrocortizone if it gets bad.  Has anyone else dealt with this? Any treatment recs that worked for you? Aquaphor? Diaper rash cream?

    Ds's didn't ooze per se but was very crusty and icky looking---they said that if it oozed to put some kind of anti-fungal they gave me on it or hydrocortizone.  But i only used the hydrocortizone when it got REALLY bad--otherwise we would put A&D ointment or even just vaseline every day about 2-3x a day and now it's MUCH better.

    DS gets a little crusty behind his ears and we just put a little Neosporin on it when we notice it getting bad.
