FREAKING out

We just came in from a fire outside in our new pit. I noticed when we came in that Ava had red spots on her face, welts on her knees and her hands were swollen. I have her benadryl right away. It has been about 30 minutes right now and she still has the welts on her knees and some spots on her face. What could cause this? I am freaking out because I do that to myself anyways, but still, someone please calm me down. MH is in there with her right now so I could ask for some tips.

Re: FREAKING out

  • Could it be a heat rash?

  • I don't think so. It was cold out.
  • All I can think of is that she must have come in contact with Ella's milk. I had the both in a tent, but they both were sitting with MH and I. MH thinks she must have been touching the milk, got it on her hands or something. I am not so sure, but she is doing better now, her face looks better and her hands are back to normal. Last time we checked her knees were still raised with big welts, but she seems OK now. She always acted fine telling us she felt fine, just sleepy (of course, it is 10:55 at night!) She was breathing fine and her tongue was not swollen.
  • The only thing I can think of is something was in the wood that irritated her - poison ivy/oak or something that burned and got into the air?

Do you have a poison control center you can call? They're usually really helpful.
