2nd Trimester

Which diaper bag are you getting and why?

I am more about function and simple designs... I was checking out the Skip Hop messengers and a lot of them seem like they are what I am looking for, but I am sure there are some "features" or practicality issues I haven't considered.

(I also want one DH can carry and not look totally lame ie - Petunia Pickle Bottom bags!)

Re: Which diaper bag are you getting and why?

  • One of these from OiOi. Not sure which yet, but a hobo one.

  • Just an idea, check out non-diaper bags too. We're gonna use a regular old backpack. :)
  • I went with the Natalie by Bumble Bags because it has a TON of space. We are planning on traveling a lot between families and this bag had enough room to pack things for the weekend. Plus, its a $148 bag, and I found it at Marshalls for $40!!!
  • Something fabulous but non-diaper baggish.
  • Probably a Skip Hop.  Still working on it.  I can tell you it will not be black with gold disco mirrors!

  • I went with a Coach diaper bag. I wanted something that looked sleek (not like a diaper bag) and could also double as a purse. It's divided into two sections, so I use one for baby's stuff and one side for my personal stuff. It's very simple, and I like the way it looks! I'm also a bag person, so it satisfied that itch for me.

  • HeyRed.... examples?

  • We're using my old Timbuk2 messenger bag.  It's waterproof, it's paid for, it's big enough for a bunch of junk and the colors are cool by DH.

  • I ordered this Skip Hop one this morning, actually... I read reviews about how durable they are and how long they last because of the fabric.

  • I used a plain old backback.  Roomy, several compartments.  Room for a little shopping, so I didn't need to carry shopping bags too.  I rarely take one with me any more- haven't since around 12 months, so it will do fine for the twins, too.

  • I bought Bumble Bags Madeline. My friend's mom got me a Vera Bradley baby bag. I want an Under Armour bacpack for DH bc the other two are feminine.

Nordstroms Off 5th and Century 21 have Skip Hops for less than half price....but don't know if they have those stores outside of NYC.

  • I unfortunately have no idea yet but I did read some helpful information today by just googling "best diaper bags reviews" that basically went like this -- if you breastfeed you can get away with a smaller bag (no formula, water, bottles, etc) but if you cloth diaper you'll need a bigger bag (dirty dipes, clean dipes, wet bag).  I'd also heard from Mom friends that if breastfeeding it's a good idea to throw in an extra shirt for yourself too in case of excessive leaking.  I'm sort of overwhelmed by the choices right now but I'm thinking either a OiOi Messenger style bag, a Kalencom bag or, my dream bag, a Mia Bossi.

  • We registered for a plain brown hobo one, but I think we'll end up going with the free Enfamil bag you get at the hospital.
  • im getting a jujube be all messenger bag in brown and pink.  Here is the link.

  • I got a basic looking one from Lands End, the Do It All Diaper Bag.

It might be a bit boring but I have heard great things about it. I would love a Coach bag but I would too afraid of getting it dirty and having to worry about keeping it clean.?

We bought the Skip Hop bag. It came highly recommended by my sister (who has three kids).  She tried a few other bags, but she said that all of the pockets in this one made it the best!  That and her DH would carry it, too.

  • Vera Bradley Baby Bag. ?--hubby bought it for me as ?a christmas present- plus it just looks like a bigger version of a purse. i LOVE it! :)?

Not Red and chiming in late, but Timi & Leslie have some cute non-diaper baggish ones. They are sort of expensive, but they include a wristlet and I figure if they are going to be my purse and my DB, I should get a good one :)

I got the Charlie tote from blissdiaperbags.com.
