Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Do I have to teach DS how to roll over?

Or will he just do it on his own??  I've been kind of helping him roll over on his play mat and he has fun, but he doesn't try to do it on his own.  When is the normal age that they do this?  Also, is rolling from back to belly easier, or belly to back?  Thanks.

  • belly to back is easier. ?most babies will roll back to belly around 4 months or so. ?some earlier, some later.

  • Belly to back is easier for DD.  She's done it a couple times on her own.  But we practice together back and forth.  She's in physical therapy for Torticollis and it definitely helps strengthen her neck when we go from back to belly because she has to lift her head as she comes over.

I dont think you have to teach them. We never did w/ DD she just started getting more active and mobile and moves around on her own. She just started going back to belly more often these past few days. She did it a few times about a month and a half ago but it was more on accident than it has been lately.

  • DD did back to belly first and her first time was yesterday. I've been helping her out, but I'm not sure if that helped. Can't hurt!
