I have tried swaddling, but he hates having his arms swaddled and he has always somehow worked them out when I wake up, but i feel with his arms out that may wake him up more often too when he startles himself.
Anyone use a sleep positioner? He always sounds kinda congested at night when I lay him down, although doesn't during the day.
When he was in bed with me for the first month he was sleeping one 5-6 hour stretch and then up every 3 after that, but now that I have moved him to his co sleeper he is back to every 2.5-3. But I could not sleep very soundly when he was in bed with me.
I am so confused and don't know what to try next of what works for most people. I know it is normal for him to be up every 3, but before this week he was doing so much better. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks
Re: Have you found anything to help your LO sleep longer?
DD would be congested at night so we use a humidifier and it cleared her up.
Maybe if you sleep with his pjs one night and then put them on him the next night he'll smell you near him and sleep longer.
We use one, for this very reason. It was recomended from the Pedi.
We do one formula bottle a night for DH night feeding anywhere between 9-10 pm. The doctor recommended it for sleeping and that way he is used to in for those "just in case" times at the babysitters after I return to work. We started it at 4 weeks and he started sleeping 4 hours, 5 weeks 5 hours and 6 weeks 6 hours... we turned 7 weeks today, so lets see what happens!
haha
I wasn't sure if it really worked so I tried nursing this feeding twice since we started formula and DH woke up 2.5-3 hours after feeding. The doctor said formula is more filling and coats his tummy.
It's a big decision to make if you are BFing, but turned out great for us. Plus DH gets bonding time with his son, and I can save my precious pumped milk for daycare.
I'd watch The Happiest Baby on the Block to see if you are swaddling tight enough. We also use a sleep positioner and it seems to work great! DS is already sleeping for at least a 4 hour stretch through the night since he was 5 days old and now he'll sleep for 5 hours straight.
