Monitoring on Clomid

Just back from my OB/GYN. Today she monitored my Progesterone levels through blood testing. I asked her about an u/s, but she said that really won't tell her anything right now--she's just looking to see if I ovulated to know what the next dose should be. For those who are being monitored via u/s, what are they looking for?

We go to the RE April 8, so we'll probably be monitored more closely that way anyway.

Re: Monitoring on Clomid

  • Usually when you get u/s monitoring on clomid they are around CD 10-14 to see how many and how big your follies are, to see how soon you will O, to check your lining (clomid is notorious for causing thin lining which cant support a pregnancy), and if using a trigger shot, see how long unitl that happens.

  • if today is 7dpo (the day they usually do the progesterone b/w) then an u/s today isn't critical.     the u/s usually happen on CD3 (to check for cysts) and then CD10-14 to check on your follicle development and measure your uterine lining.    so i don't think you should be concerned that today was just b/w.

    good luck!

  • So - what do they specifically check for CD21-23?

typically just your progesterone levels to make sure you ovulated and that they are sufficient to support a pregnancy.

  • Thanks, guys! Now I feel better! As much as I'm already overwhelmed with the constant testing and checking, I don't want to feel like I'm missing out on anything that we could/should be doing.

My understanding was that CD 21 testing (that I had done today) is the progesterone check that lets her know if I did indeed ovulate on the Clomid, and if she maybe needs to up the dosage for the next round.

I did have blood work done on CD 3 and an u/s on CD 6.

the progesterone needs to be done at 7dpo not CD21 unless you actually O'd on CD14... many women O on other days of their cycle so if you O'd on CD18 then going in on CD21 for this would give you a falsely low #

  • agree with everyone else....cant think of anything to add

  • I'm on Clomid and just had my progesterone check yesterday and the results back today.  My MD checks on cycle days 23-25 and yesterday was cycle day 24 for me.  He said he wants it to be above 15 and mine was at 22.7 so at least I feel like this is one test I passed and maybe we won't have to up Clomid, I'm only on 50mg right now and had three good size follicles.  I agree that there is so much to continue to learn as we go along.

     Good luck!
