I am struggling here. My milk will not come in. I saw the lactation consultant today and we decided I will give fenugreek a try. If nothing by early next week I am going to have my Dr write a prescription for Reglan.
The LC said my DS has a perfect latch....the issue is with me. My scars are around my nipples, and I had very little breast tissue to begin with. Also my breast did not grow any during pregnancy. The LC doesn't think I will ever produce enough to BF without supplementing, but every little bit counts so we are going to keep trying. I am bummed out.
Any mommas with implants or little breat tissue go through the same thing? Is there any hope for me? Thanks!
Re: Any mommas with implants BF?
Are you under the muscle or over?
I am over the muscle and I heard that could cause problems.. but I'm not having any issues at all. I am sorry you're going through this.
Keep trying!!
After taking fenugreek and reglan I had plenty of milk, but the issue was with my son. He had a bad latch and would fall asleep after five minutes. I finally switched to EPing and then just to FFing.
My implants are under the muscle (nipple incision) and I had complications so I had multiple surgeries. They were sure that I wouldn't be able to do it, but in the end I was fine.
I SO feel your pain on this issue...I have implants under the muscle, with the incision around the nipple, and I too am having BF problems. My breasts never got big during pregnancy, and I never had engorgement after delivery. I did produce some milk, but it was just never enough. I had to start supplementing right away, and I am pretty much almost entirely on formula now. I tried EVERYTHING to make more milk....nothing worked. I took the supplements and rented a hospital grade pump to try and stimulate more milk, and that didn't help. I was incredibly disappointed, but I have to just accept what is. I was really down about it for a while, but now that I've let go of the frustration and accepted what is, I feel better and am able to actually enjoy feeding DS instead of crying everytime I tried to BF.
I'll try again with my next baby and see how it goes. I've read that many implant mommies were able to make more milk the second time around.
Hang in there, and don't beat yourself up over it!
Mine are under the muscle, with an incision underneath. I had supply issues up until I finished BFing DS a week ago. The last 2 months I was only making about 6-8oz/day. It was very discouraging but I kept going because DS was a preemie and I was trying to make up for what my body failed to give him in the womb. DS was premature and in the NICU for a few weeks. I had loads of stress, and I was sick so I blame that. DS wouldn't latch on until he was about 6 weeks old. I supplemented from the get go. I guess the implants could be an issue but seems more likely that it is from the other issues that went on in the first few weeks which(I feel) are crutial to your supply.(Not to mention, I am super high-strung and could never relax enough to get the emotional production going)
