Who has hired a housesitter?

I am thinking of asking my cousin to houseit for us while we go on vacation at the end of July. I basically just ned her to do the mail and feed the dog and let it out and keep the house ready in case there is a showing on the house.

What is the going rate? I assume I need to leave the fridge stocked for her as well. I totally trust her and she is a goody goody who wants to be a youth pastor, so i don't have to worry about her drinking all my tequila or having her boyfriend spend the night either.

  • I have a housesitter who feeds my cat, checks my mail and waters my flowers when I go on vacation.  She doesn't stay overnight (but would if requested).  I pay 20 per day for my service.  For her to stay over, like for a dog, she charges 40 per day.  She is wonderful and it much less of a hassle for the cat not to have to be boarded.  I do board my dog though, she loves going.
