I would say yes. The quantity of crab in a california roll would not be enough to cause any problems IMO. And it isn't like you eat it everyday of the week.
But everyone should use their own judgement, this is just my opinion.
any cooked sushi is fine...i've been craving sushi bad for the last few days! I want some tuna rolls..and some dragon rolls...mmm and a good rainbow roll.. I'm thinking I may be grabbing some california rolls tonight
If your sushi place is clean and isn't shady, I don't see a problem with it.
Then again, my doctor said OK to normal (rolls with raw fish) sushi in moderation. She said she'd prefer I skip the sashimi and at least pad my raw fish with rice & some veggies.
my mw said if it's a place you go frequently (at least 3x a mo for at least 6 mo) and haven't gotten sick, they probably make safe sushi. I'm still not gonna risk it tho! Bring on the Cali rolls. I will be wishing they were a rainbow!

Thank goodness. I had a spicy tuna roll a week or so ago so when I was reading all of this "as long as its cooked" stuff I started to get a little worried! I'll definitely check with my doc before I have any more though.
I had been really craving sushi for awhile so I got some the other night. I love Dragon rolls, which I can't have now bc of the eel on top. But there's one called a Pittsburgh Roll (I live in Pgh) and it is cooked shrimp, crab, avacado and cucumber I think....sooooooo good. Although it usually comes with caviar on the outside but I just got it w/o.
Eat it! You'd be surprised of the # of items you can actually eat on a sushi menu...I just make sure it's cooked. Thankfully, other than raw tuna (which I am avoiding), my favorite's are all cooked: eel and avocado and shrimp tempura and a spicy california roll, yum! I've been eating it once per week.
Someone mentioned eel above -- you can eat it! It's cooked when they serve it in sushi, and it's considered low mercury too (I checked).
I went last week and today, I got the Boston Roll, Sweet Potato Roll, and Spicy Crunch Crab Roll. Just stick to the cooked stuff and you should be fine. All the vegetable, shrimp, and crab stuff is cooked so that will satisfy your cravings!

Anyone in New Jersey, there's an awesome restaurant in North Jersey called Veggie Heaven. Everything there is vegetarian EVEN THEIR SUSHI!!!!!! and it's all amazing.... They have all kinds of sushi, all made vegetarian... spicy tuna rolls, salmon rolls, EVERYTHING! It's definately worth the trip. There's actually 3 or 4 of them all owned by the same people so they're ALL delicious. The main one is in Teaneck and there's one in Montville, Parsippany and Denville. Check them out!
