My sister is looking for a place to rent.  She is moving in with her boyfriend and another friend and she also has her 2 year old son 1/2 the time (the other 1/2 he is with his dad).

 

She emailed about a 3 bed room house and got this email back.  She googled the name but could not find anything (I did not try to goolge it).

I think things like this sound fishy - people out of the country, want a large sum of money down, etc.  She could call the city hall to find out who owns it (check tax records), or knock on the door and /or check with neighbors.

It's a scam - there is no house for rent. Don't even respond. Delete.

No No No! I get emails like this at my business (which isn't real estate related)  In fact, it may even be the same Rev's name.

NO. ?A friend of mine's parents really are missionaries in Africa and they rent out their house when they are over there (usually 2-4 years at a time), but they have a someone over here that handles the house. ?Delete.?

I will tell her not to respond to it.  It just sounds off to me.  I have never rented a place before just a bed room from a friends parents, moved back home then moved in with dh who owed his home so I have never had to deal with things like this.

Even there is a real house and he is the owner, I wouldn't rent with the owner so far away unless there's a management company involved.
