If you are on a diet...

Isn't it suppose to get easier?

I started South Beach last week because I want to lose 10 pounds.  I am still freaking STARVING!!!!!!

This has been what I have had today:

Bfast: 1 egg omlette with cheese slice and mushrooms, glass of milk

Lunch: spinach salad with mushrooms, blue cheese, and deli turkey, 1/4 c roasted almonds.

I feel like I haven't ate anything :(  It 'worked' last week, I lost 3 pounds, but I am tired on being so hungry.  Any advice?

Re: If you are on a diet...

  • Have you considered adding a protein shake in between meals?  Not too many calories, low carb, and good protein to help keep you fueled.
  • I drink a lot of water.  It makes me feel like I am not so hungry.  I also have small snacks throughout the day, like celery and carrots.  That helps a lot too, and they don't add many calories.

  • With SB you should have snacks!  Try a small handful of nuts, or string cheese, laughing cow cheese with vegies (not carrots- not on Phase 1), pb on celery, etc.

Once you're off Phase 1 you can eat Triscuits with cheese, vegies with the Laughing cow cheese, etc.

I started the SBD just recently- I'm probably on my third week, and I'm still hungry all the time :(  I haven't cheated much, but we've gone out to eat and I just figured it was "real" eating.  Its a lifestyle change, not just a diet.  I figured once in a while eating out is okay, especially if you can make a good choice from the menu.

    Good luck!

Do you like Splenda?  My husband makes these "cookies" out of 1 cup natural peanut butter, 1 egg, 1 cup of splenda.  I think it makes 16 cookies and he eats them for dessert each night.  He says it "gets him through".   I'm not a big fan of splenda but these are okay.  Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

  • Looks like you need to add more complex carbs (wheats, grains, veggies, fruits) to your meals or as a snack.  Complex carbs will help stabilze your blood sugars so that you do not have cravings 30 minutes after you just ate.  You could add a whole wheat piece of toast or a small fruit cup to breakfast & maybe half a sandwich on rye or wheat bread to lunch.  What about anything with natural peanut butter, etc.  Drinking lots of water will also keep cravings away.  Chew sugar free gum is also great!
