Does anyone do this on a regular basis for this purpose? Can you make some recommendations for a beer to start out with since I am so not a big beer girl... DH made me try this kind called Young's Double Chocolate Stout. BLECH it was not good.
I am taking fenugreek capsules and the tea and eating lacation cookies but had a major drop due to me being sick and I am willing to try anything to get it to return to normal.
It really does help, I had half a beer last night, and holy cow, I fed DD this morning and then pumped 4 oz on top of that. My boobs were SO full. I second the wheat beers, or fruity beers if you aren't a beer drinker.
I was advised to drink Guinness b/c it has nutrients that will get passed on to the baby. A friend of mine has a midwife & she advised her to drink Guinness. I also have a co-worker that who is in his 50's & he said that his mom drank a Guinness a day when he was a baby to put weight on him. He was born premature and it was hard for him to gain weight. ((He was born over in Europe)) I agree with PP that you should find a wheat beer though. Btw, it does help me w/ production.
Re: Beer helping milk production?
HAH! If you're not a beer girl, starting with a Stout is NOT a good plan! And I've had chocolate stouts before - YUCK!
Try to find a pale ale - raspberry pale ale is one of my favorites, but I only drink it at a local microbrewery.
Personally, I'm drinking mother's milk tea and taking fenugreek capsules, but let me know if the beer works!
my husband is a brewer by profession so he is convinced this is true as well. ?(personally, i think he just wants me bak as his drinking partner)
start out with some light fruity beers. a couple of my favs are:
magic hat #9
blue moon
saison dupont
anything labelled a "wheat beer" will probably be good for you. ?
