anyone ever use Benadryl for Ear Infections??

Sylvie's got a double ear infection (again- sigh.) and my friend, who's a PA, suggested Benadryl to help clear up some of the fluid in her ears. I'd never heard of this, but we're supposed to fly tomorrow, so I'm willing to try anything to make the trip as comfortable as possible for her. (she's already on Zithromax, so the infection itself is being treated- just worried about discomfort on the plane.)

TIA!

Re: anyone ever use Benadryl for Ear Infections??

  • I have.  The ears nose and throat are all connected, so if you give Benedryl for nasal issues the same thing should apply in theory.  It has helped make my son more comfortable when he's had a bad ear infection.

  • My DD has had plenty and No, I've never heard that.

Sorry, I hope she feels better!!!

  • Yep...doctor has suggested that many times (along with an antibiotic of course).
  • Once when antiobiotics weren't working, pedi suggested aggressive Benadryl treatment and it worked.
