never used snaps but I think I might prefer them.  The velcro on her diapers are starting to stick up on the edges causing them to come undone.  She also has just learned that the velcro is there and she can pick at it.

No rubber cover.  Thats just for prefolds...some people use them and they are way cheaper but that's not what I went with.

i really have no preference.  velcro seems to offer more room to grow, but DS can also take those off easier.

depends on the diaper.  you wouldn't need a cover with pockets or All-in-one diapers, but you would need a cover for prefolds and fitteds.  doesn't have to be rubber though.  i use PUL covers and wool covers/soakers.

favorite 'brand' is Bum Genius.  but i prefer WAHM dipes and my favorite of those are Bububebe's.  I also have some artsyfartsyfoofoo on order.

-It depends on what kind you use - there's much more then just prefolds and covers in the diapering world anymore.  They're not "rubber covers" or "plastic pants" anymore, they're PUL (polyurethane laminate) covers, or wool, or fleece.

-I like several different diapers.  Bumgenious AIO Organics, BG 3.0s, OBB Diapers, Goodmama, Muttaguin Baby, Piddle Poddles

I like snaps, DH likes velcro.

No rubber covers- but there are covers for prefold and fitted diapers- they're made out of waterproof PUL.  You can also use lanolized wool over prefolds and fitteds (my personal choice).

My favourites are bububebe on hyenacart.com.  They're a fitted diaper and the ONLY diaper that gets us through the night.  As far as pocket diapers, I really like Happy Heinys.

I like velcro and snaps for different reasons.  If she's not going to be completely dressed, I put her in snaps because she can't get them undone.  If she's fully clothed, velcro works fine.  If I want DH to change her, he only uses velcro (though he is starting to occasionally grab a snaps diaper... he just is afraid to snap it too tight).

Rubber covers are pretty outdated, IMO.  There are other options for covers if you want to go the fitted/prefolds route.  PUL is a much more breathable waterproof cover, and wool is also an excellent choice.

Favorite brands:

Prefolds (require a cover): (I haven't used them) the most popular brand among the EFF board is green mountain diapers

Fitteds (require a cover): I like goodmamas and bububebes.

Pockets (do not require a cover): I like both bumgenius and fuzzibunz.

AIO (do not require a cover): I don't like these because of the drying time required, but Thirsties and BG seem to be the popular choices.

Hang out over on the Eco-Friendly Family board for a little while.   You will learn a TON.

I prefer velcro - DS is impossible to get a snapped diaper on - wiggles too much.  We use pocket diapers and prefolds mostly.  Mostly BumGenious 3.0s for pockets.  Wool at night.  I agree - go to the EFF board - so much info over there!
