Fun things to do in Annapolis?

Anyone have suggestions for things to see in Annopolis? ?DH and I are spending this weekend there while the inlaws stay at our house with the kiddos. ?We're staying downtown, so we figured we'd just walk around and enjoy the kid-free time, but it'd be nice to know what to look for. ?Thanks!

  • You can come about 50 miles west into Frederick and we can walk through downtown and all the antique shops.
  • Loading the player...
  • Downtown is nice, but small. :-)

Walk around the Naval Academy grounds. They are pretty, especially at this time of year when everything is getting green.

Have a nice dinner somewhere... Middleton Tavern has been around since something like 1780. Or if you like Irish pubs, Galway Bay is off of State Circle.

There are lots of little boutiquey shops and galleries to wander through.

Child-free, I would just park myself at one of the bars on the water and have a couple of adult beverages. Pusser's in the Marriott has good Painkillers.

  • I like this place:

Also, Quiet Waters Park is great; they have an awesome playground with soft turf, and you can wander on the paths and see the river.  $5 to get in.

  • Adult beverages are out for me, since I'm 33 weeks pg. ?:( ?But sitting around by the water does sound nice. ?I'm just excited about 2 days that involves doing anything besides chasing around my two toddlers.

Thanks for the Middleton Tavern suggestion. ?I'll look into it.?

Kitty, we drive through Frederick all the time on our way to visit DH's parents. ?Never thought to actually stop there. ?:)?

  • I'm not very familiar with Annapolis but we at at Ram's Head once and they have this patio with heated lanterns covered with wisteria that I loved.  I'd love to go there sometime when its in bloom.

  • Whoops. Your H can order a Painkiller and you can have a sip, then. :-)

But it's right on the water, which is nice. I don't know if the deck is open yet.

Phillip's is also right on City Dock, but I am not as fond of it.

  • Phillips is closed I believe, reoping under a different name with different owners.

If you want a yummy (on the fancer and expensive side) dinner, check out O'Learys for seafood or Lewnes for steaks. Both are in Eastport, and super yummy. For shopping, make sure you wander Maryland Ave - that is the main drag of cute shops. Stop in Madelines on Maryland Ave. to browse the adorable childrens clothes and pick up something for that new bambino!

If the weather is nice, for sure head down to the dock and get an ice cream from Storm Brothers, bring some bread to feed the ducks. If it is warm enough you can take a boat ride on the water taxi.

    Have fun!

  • If it's a nice weekend you'll just enjoy walking around! There's lots of little shops up and down main street. Definitely get an ice cream from Storm Bros (across the street from the water). It's so good! Check out https://www.whatsupmag.com/magazine-publications/annapolis.aspx for events and listings.

Shows how much attention I pay to it, then. LOL
