Hi, we were having the same issue and discovered that we had to "strip" our CD's. I scrubbed each one w/ a brush and some Dawn (the inserts too). Then I threw them in the wash along w/ some OxyClean on the hottest cycle until all of the soap was gone.
Then I bought some flushable liners, Calif Baby cream and Country Save detergent. I plan on washing cd's w/ a tsp of Dawn & OxyClean each month for upkeep.
