So who fell while PG?

I just slid down a few steps. It wasn't a big fall but I landed on my one buttcheek with enough force to give my back a little jolt. I hate that it's 9:50pm and that I should  call my doc even though my gut tells me everything is fine (can feel baby moving, no bleeding, fall wasn't severe, etc.)

What were your stories? Did you call?

Re: So who fell while PG?

  • eek, that would worry me too. I would probably call just to see what they say and what to watch for, even though I'm pretty sure everything will be fine.

  • I did, at 28 weeks.  Fell down an entire flight of steps carrying our laundry!!  I was totally fine, but nearly gave my hubby a heart attack!!
  • Our stairs are slick, I fall (and fell) down them at least once a week.

  • I fell on some ice a few months ago and didn't call. BUT looking back I probably should have, just to make sure everything was OK. I would call.

And I am cracking up at your sig. She is so adorable!!?

  • I fell multiple times once hitting my belly on the corner of a bench.  I called the doc and they said as long as baby was still moving, I wasn't having contractions and there wasn't any bleeding things sounded fine.
  • Second tri I think around 15 or 16 weeks, I fell HARD on a street flat on my belly. I badly grazed my hands but the belly was so big it still hit hard.

I was worried. We were on our way to dinner with a  friend and we still went but I was pretty shaken. Next morning I called the Dr, who said amniotic fluid is a fantastic t hing and if there was no leaking or bleeding not to worry. I had my usual appointment a week or so later and it was all fine.

  • I fell more than once this winter.  I didn't call b/c they weren't crazy bad falls.  I noticed no decrease in movement, cramping, bleeding, etc.

  • I did on ice when pregnant. They made me come in for an US but said that if I wasn't leaking any fluid, bleeding or cramping that I was probably fine.
  • sh!t T!  now I am going to worry about you and littlev.  if you are feeling any doubts call the ob.  sending good thoughts your way!

  • True MMML - I go on Thursday. Maybe I'll call tomorrow morning but I really don't feel like it was a crucial enough fall to disturb the on-call doctor (and yes I know it's their job and that they get paid a lot of money to do it).

Thanks Cookie. Nothing beats Princess Rory's pics though!

  • Thank you A! But really, I feel like everything is fine. I will call if that changes I promise!

  • I'd call just for peace of mind. ?I tripped and fell hard onto my knees (then rolled hard onto my hip) at 39 weeks. ?I was a bit scraped up but wasn't having contractions and felt fine otherwise. ?Plus, it was the night before Thanksgiving, and I didn't want to bug my OB. ?I went into labor a few days later, and right after I got to the hospital, the baby went into distress, and I ended up with an emergency c-section. ?My OB later said he thought it was a placental abruption (even though I had no vaginal bleeding), due to the amount of bleeding I had during and after surgery. ?He also said he didn't think my fall caused it, but I'll always wonder if that fall did something to my placenta. ?Not trying to scare you, and I'm sure you're fine. ?But if you have any doubts, I'd call. ?It's your OB's job to field those kinds of questions, so don't feel bad about it.

  • I am sure that you both are fine.  update me in the morning asap.  hugs.  boo I hate this.

  • I tripped over the cat while I was in labor, does that count?  Since I was headed to the hospital, I didn't call, but I was completely freaked out when I went to the bathroom (where I was headed when I fell) and saw my MP.
  • Sure sledge that counts! LOL

  • I sliped on some water while at work, I was about 18-22 weeks along? I landed doing the splits! lol! Lots of laugh that night, however, it started to get really sore like I pulled a groin muscle.  Since I worked in the ER at the time (how convienent, hey?) I just chose to be seen in case I would be out of work from the injury.  I wasn't out of work, but it gave me peace of mind I guess to get checked out. Everything was fine, I just pulled a muscle.

  • I fell while walking in NYC, it was snowing and slippery.....  I did not get hurt and I did not even think to call my doctor.

Hope you're ok and everything is ok!

  • I fell at 40 wks 1 day, and went into labor later that day. Who knows if it had anything to do with the fall. I fell down our garage stairs flat on my face. Luckily I caught myself on my hands and scraped my knee but I don't think I hit my belly (I wasn't that big). The nurses kept asking about my knee throughout labor and delivery, LOL. Btw do you like your jaccuzzi? We love ours and I keep meaning to put DS in to help teach him to swim. Cute picture!

  • I did both times.  The first time I fell down a few cement stairs and broke my foot.  With Andersen, I fell onto our ottoman.  I called the doc both times.  She didn't have me come in for monitoring with Law -- I had my big u/s that week and she checked everything out then and the Urgent Care doc listened for the h/b.  With Andersen, the on-call doc had me come in for monitoring even though I could feel him moving -- my belly hit the ottoman on my way down and she was concerned about placental abruption.

I'd call.  There's a very slim chance anything is wrong, but if you're anything like me, you'd never forgive yourself if something happened and you hadn't called.

  • I fell down a few steps when I was pretty huge with DS. I was fine and never felt anything weird or unusual. I think it was only 4 stairs. If I were you I would call just to ease your mind :)
  • I fell down my outdoor cement steps at about 28 weeks! I scuffed up my leg pretty bad and had to get a stich in my lip, but ds was o.k. It was really scary though!

  • I was about 8 months pg and fell down some stairs (about 3) and landed on my butt.  I called the doctor and he said that was the best way to land!  No follow-up either.  I was fine and so was baby.
