Happy Dr. Day to me! ?
Well, here's what I know. ?We are planning IVF for my April cycle which should start around the 20th. ?We don't have any further testing but will have a few appointments over the next 2 weeks. ?First, we have to have another meds instruction since I will be on Menopur (in addition to Follistim), Ganirelix, and PIO after transfer. ?I am particularly looking forward to the giant PIO shots in the butt, ugh! ?Since we are not doing BCPs or Lupron, I am not sure what protocol this would be considered. ?I am thinking it's closest to antagonist. ?Anywho, the same day as the meds instruction, we have an orientation with the hospital. ?Don't really know what that entails. Two days later I have a mock transfer. ? On the 15th I have a sonogram to check for cysts. ?If AF happens to come earlier, this will be moved up.
I will start injections on cd 2, sono after 4 days, continue with med adjustments, and trigger probably last days of April. ?Retrieval is tentatively scheduled first week of May. ?It sounds like my RE only does 5dt because in his example he said that if we retrieve 10, then we will have 2 or 3 reach the blastocyst stage. ?That to me meant that he doesn't even do 3dt. ?It's entirely possible that I could have little embabies swimming around in my uterus for Mother's Day. ?I know it would be too soon for me to be pregnant, but at least having them in there should help me get through the day a little easier.
Sorry this is getting long. ?Just wanted to mention that I had my annual with my OB/GYN after the consult. ?I had not seen her in 14 months, when I was still new to TTC and never thought I would be in this boat! She mentioned that she had not seen me in awhile, and I told her that even though she hadn't been in there in awhile, plenty of other people had been all up in my business. She wished me the best and told me she hopes to see me back in a couple of months. ?Me too!?
Re: :::Head is spinning:::
Hey Indiana,
I replied to your post yesterday over on TTTC....glad that your appt went well! We are pretty close in our cycles - and our protocol! I'm not doing BCPs either - my IVF cycle should start around the 24th (or later - I'm not that regular!) ER sometime in the 1st or 2nd week of May. I'm doing Gonal-f adding in Menupour later, as well as Ganirelix....so pretty similar to yours!
It's a lot of information to take in, that's for sure! I'm anxious to get started - I feel like I've been sitting around waiting for the past few months (had a cancelled IUI in Feb, polyp removed in March) so I can't wait for it to come!
Keep me posted on how you are doing - I usually check over here periodically, and am on TTTC regularly! Good luck!
Yes, it is overwhelming. Best advice that I've heard is to just take one day at a time...if you think of all the moving parts that have to happen thoughout your cycle it is too much....but if you just look at the current day, it is managable. I think when you look at the entire calendar, it is just too overwhelming!
Page me anytime - and read or post over on TTTC - those ladies have been through it all and have lots of great information - I feel like the more information I have the easier it will be for me. I'll look for your updates too!
Me too, me too!!!!
The mock transfer, from what I understand, is when they take a measurement of your uterus for placement of the embryos. ?It's done with a full bladder, so it sounds like loads of fun!?
Interesting. I have learned more in the last 6 months about TTC than I thought there was to know. Good luck with everything. I'll be on pins and needles for you.
Me too!! I'm wishing you all the best!!!
Congrats on your productive RE visit! Sounds like you have a solid plan. I agree it's overwhelming at first...I hope the first time will be your charm and you won't have to become an "old pro"
I found it helpful to buy a little pocket calendar to keep track of everything. Write in pencil, because dates tend to shift a bit. I would write small numbers in the corner of the calendar boxes to keep track of cycle day, stim day, days past transfer, etc. I loved having everything organized at my finger tips and it unloads the mental burden of keeping track of everything.
When the box of meds comes, you'll be overwhelmed, but you know what I did? I just ignored the big pile and then I looked at only what I needed at that part of the cycle. Don't obsess over the big PIO needles--the ones you inject with are quite thin and I'm telling you I could barely feel them. My husband got quite good at giving them. The stims were much more a pain in the butt so to speak due to all the various mixing and multiple injections. PIO was a piece of cake!
Good luck!
sorry sweetie that you have to go through this.
but you have a plan. i know there is a lot of info. just take it one day at a time and know that we are all here for you if you need us.
hugs...
Wow. How exciting and I'm sure nerve wracking. Once they get started it all happens so fast. I have heard about the PIO shots and they do seem a little scary, but I'm sure the end result will be well worth it.
Good luck and and definitely keep up posted along the way. Some of us may be following in your footsteps very soon.
Girl, you are so on the ball!! Like the pp's said, I can't wait until you post about your BFP. Good luck!
