Hey!!
I just ( finally) got a call back from my doctor- she had called me back before and left a message with only half of the answers I needed- I had left her a message with a LOT of questions- a few about me and a few about Wyatt- but when she called she only answered the ones about me!!-so I called and left another message and she finally got back to me! sheesh!!)
SO: She says that his seems to be closing rapidly and that she has a note that it was perfectly normal at his previous appointments..( she still says it could still be totally normal- which is why she just wants to watch it.) She said if it seems smaller ( she wants to see him at 3 months instead of at 4 months) she'll consult a neurosurgeon (yikes) and see if there is anything we should "be doing" for now.
She said if it closes completely in the next couple of months, she'll send us to a neurosurgeon and she thinks that surgery will be necessary to open it back up to make room for his brain...
She doesn't think it is that unusual that his plates are still overlapping- but that is isn't exactly common- she just thinks that it is still in the process of adjusting ( which goes against everything I have read; it seems like it is very uncommon to have those plates overlapping after the first week or so...)
She told me to stay off of the internet (not in a jerky way, I just have a habit of mentioning worst case scenarios that I read about online... she is a total alarmist so I thought she'd appreciate it!!)
SO...I have been checking it every day and it hasn't changed a bit since our appointment- that's good, because he'll be 4 months pretty soon, and I would prefer that we NOT need a neurosurgeon consultation!
oh boy!
Re: <<<---EMT & Marce------>>
Interesting! I wish I could feel your sons' head and compare it to mine.
It sounds like some of the issue is that she feels it's closing rapidly. I know my sons has been small all along. I don't think his pedi would have said anything to me if I didn't bring up at his last appt. But, either way, we are watching it too.
Thanks for the info! Honestly, your doc sounds alarmist but I am too so I kinda like that I am now watching my son's head too.
