I had to go to work so I didn't get to read responses until now. They haven't really had any finger foods other than puffs and Karly likes toast (Katie doesn't yet). It's mainly been purees. Thanks for the suggestions. When did you start those things?
Re: Skimmy and others RE: lunches
Charlie started earlier than most it sounds like. Have you started dairy? What about pieces of cheese? He liked little pieces of string cheese ( not in strings but little round chunks) but now he screams for joy if I give him American Cheese. lol
I think at 6 months we started puffs then moved onto toast, cheerios, the Gerber dried apples, yogurt melts, Mummums things like that. I am having trouble remembering back but sometimes I take a can of low sodium soup and drain the liquid and give him the noodles and veggies out of it. He loves crackers and now that he has a top tooth he likes biting things. Have you tried pieces of banana? DS loves kiwi, cantalope, small pieces of apple and quarters of grapes.
I alternated rice and barley for dinner and if I needed to do something for lunch I would try to do the opposite of what I was gonna do for dinner. Ohhh what about pancakes and waffles?
ok above is just a random list of my thoughts and ideas of food. If you want me to explain more let me know.

Did you mash up the cantalope? I have those food strainer thingys. You know, the mesh baggy with the handle and you put the food in and they chew it through the bag. I'm supposed to be working on their pincher (pincer?) grasp because it's not developed and I guess it should be.
You just cut everything in tiny chunks in the beginning?
Thank you so much for taking the time to help
.
Wow..I feel really behind on the foods
. I so terrified of choking even though I know they probably won't.
Do you boil it first?
No I just make sure it's VERY ripe and I give him small pieces. That way it kinda falls apart in his mouth. He never understood the mesh feeders- would rather chew on the handle.
Charlie has always had a great pincher grasp so I am no help there- a few months ago he picked up a penny off the counter. strange.
I still cut everything into small chunks!
ohhh try scrambed egg yolks!!!! and you know what- if they shovel it in oh well... they will get it someday!
Yes- I took the time to help... I'm actually kinda nice... don't tell anyone. HA HA HA HA if I think of anything else I'll let ya know.
