Hi ladies,
Dh and I have been "letting nature take it's course" since I got off the pill in October. My last period was January 25th. I have taken test after test, once a week since I became late. All tests are negative. So this morning I called my dr. and she said to come in and get a blood test to make sure I'm not pg.
Here is the problem, I have always been in the "drink till you see pink" mindset, and all of my home pg tests were negative. I drink heavily, like 3 drinks a day every day, maybe more on the weekends. I get in our hot tub. I use tanning beds. So I get my blood test results tomorrow and am totally freaking out. If I am pg I think there is a pretty good chance I harmed the baby with my lifestyle.
So, there it is. Anyone have any thoughts or comforting words to share?
Re: Big Problem
Is possible you are not pregnant and are experiencing a super long cycle. I know I have a few 60+ day cycles after BC.
Maybe you should have thought about your lifestyle prior to TTC. I get the entire drink till its pink mentality, but still you were 2 months late. Or not have waited almost 2 months to see your doctor.
In case it's not MUD, your cycle is going to be irregular post-HBC. If the tests are still coming up negative, you probably aren't pregnant. You don't share blood with the baby until 6 weeks anyway.
At this point, there's nothing you can do about it, so quit working yourself up about your phantom fetus.

Yes she did. Click her name to view her old post.
actually that is not true. You never technically share blood, but as soon as the fetus implants you begin sharing nutrients. That is why it is so importnat that you take a folic acid supplemnt before you get pregnant, bacause as soon as implantation occurs the baby begins to get folic acid from the mother, and the neural tube is the first thing to form, long before 6 weeks. The baby nees nutrients and oxygen as soon as it startes to develope, so it much have a connection to the mother to get those things ASAP. Alcohol will cross over with the nutrients. So it is possible to harm the fretus with alcohol as soon as implantation has occured.
That being said, what is done is done and there is no reason to make yourself sick over past mistakes. I would highly recommend rethinking your lifestyle before TTC in the future. It is possible for a baby to get FAS symptoms before the mother knows she is pregnant, though unlikely.

You are correct. I did not realize she would be that far along, IF she Oed on CD14.
Please take this in the most non-judgmental way:
Why the hell does a person, a mother already no less, need to be drinking a minimum of 3 drinks a day during the week and more on the weekends??!! Seriously, if you're not pregnant, trying to get pregnant should be waaaaay down on the priority list. In fact, it should fall right off the bottom until you get your "lifestyle" figured out.
That is all.
WOW. Tanning beds, hot tubs, heavy alcohol use while TTCing and taking care of one child already. KLASSY.
I hope to sweet baby jesus that this is MUD because otherwise its just pathetic and stupid.
this is exactly what i thought, that poor baby if you are pg
