Is it normal for hemp to have a little stink?

It seems like I have smelled an almost skunky smell since day 1 so I am not thinking it's a build up issue or anything. I have been doing this about 2 months and it's getting strong (in an overnight diaper it is like WHEW in the AM) but it doesn't smell like ammonia. Thoughts?

 I wash in Country Save and don't use anything else - baking soda, vinegar, etc.

    My cricketts for some reason have a tendency to smell a bit - nothing else that I have with hemp does, though, and it all goes through the same routine. 

    To prevent, I occasionally add some dawn to the wash (with the detergent - just a little squeeze) and/or some vinegar in the rinse.  If it gets bad, I have boiled them with some Dawn to get it back to normal.
