NBR: How dumb is this?

I just ordered lunch for myself and got it delivered.  We had nothing for lunch in the house and I didn't want to go out and get something.  When I called, they asked me if I was paying with cash.  I said, Yes.  So the guy comes and delivers my food.  I try to pay with $20, the food was about $10, and the guy didn't have change!  He said this was his first delivery, so he didn't have change yet.  Who goes out to deliver food and doesn't take change?  All I needed from him was $10, since I had ones I could use for a tip, but he didn't even have that.  It looked like he had $100, $20 and a couple of ones.

So he's going to come back later with change so I can pay him.  Pretty trusting, huh?  Luckily for him, I'm an honest person and will be here to pay him...

  • That is strange!! I used to help out at my FIL's rest and we would always take change from the register for deliveries. I can't imagine going on a delivery with no change!!!!
  • Yeah that is pretty dumb I would imagine that if you are a delivery person you would be prepared especially when you told them you were paying cash when you ordered.

  • That drives me nuts!  All delivery people should come with change for a $20 bill.  I swear they're angling for you to just take whatever measly (sp?)change they have so they end up getting a bigger tip.
  • It's good that he gave you the food!  I had a guy try and rip me off for my change once while claiming to not have any change.  I called the company.  I was really ticked off.
