Hi ladies,
I've never posted on this board but am hoping you can help me out.
I have PCOS and have continued taking my 1500mg of Metformin since I got my BFP. When I was at the Dr a couple weeks ago, he said it's up to me if I want to continue taking it since there's really no scientific evidence either way if it prevents m/c. I have about 6 days worth left and was gonna stop taking it, but now I'm second guessing myself.
What did your Dr have you do?
TIA! Steph
Re: PCOS - Metformin & Pregnany ?
My RE suggested I take it throughout my pregnancy. The OB went along with what my RE said.

I stayed on it until I was 15 weeks........personally I would stay on it until I was out of the first trimester.....

After a loss at 13wks and years dealing with IF and failed treatments (3 failed IUI and 1 failed IVF), we have been blessed with DS (surprise BFP) and now his little sister (2nd round of clomid and TI) on her way.
Clomid M/C 8 weeks 2/08 *IVF #1-DD born 3/09
*Surprise BFP-T18 baby lost at 13w 1/10 *FET #1-DS born 2/11
You guys are awesome! Thank you so much for your quick responses.
I think I'm gonna call my Dr and have him prescribe one more month of it to ease my nerves.
Thanks again!
Your doctor is ill informed. There are several good studies out there. IS he an RE or an OB? Most OBs would likely not get the info, unless they went out of their way to get it. Most importantly, there is a lot of evidence coming to light that it helps prevent GD which can ge dangerous if left untreated or controlled. Some experts are saying blood sugar control IS what is keeping the M/C rate down with Met.
I took it all the way through and my RE, IVF clinic, Peri and OB all wanted me to!
GL! Congrats!
