Would this upset you?

We are going on a family vacation at the end of July with my entire family. It's in South Carolina and it's about a 14 hour drive. We have everything booked and paid for.

DH's grandma called us last night to say that DH's cousins are flying in from New Mexico that same week to see his grandma. She asked DH to cut our vacation short so we can see his cousins. I am livid about this. I have known DH since 1996 and not once has his cousins come into town. I told DH that they are here to see his grandma and not us.

I am wondering if I am upset because she asked to cut our vacation short and it will be a huge PITA to drive back early to only see them for a few hours and to go out to dinner once. She always seems to need something from DH when we are visiting my family.

Yes I would be upset.  I would not cut your vacation short!

yeah I would be upset too...actually I would pissed.  I also wouldnt cut short my vacation.

I think the New Mexico contingent needs to puch back their visit - I mean it's the same inconvenience either way, right?  Your plans or theirs must be disrupted to make this work for G'ma. Why yours?

Sorry, grandma, we already have plans.  That's what I would tell her.  I wouldn't cut our already planned vacation short.  Yes, I would be upset especially if DH was considering it.

Oh I told DH that this isn't an option, but it still really bothers me. It's always like this. I told DH that either her can tell her nicely or I will tell her like it is and that it's not going to happen.

I wouldn't be upset.  It's just a stupid request and I'd say no.

Tell grandma you have plans. Don't change them. Continue on with your vacation and have a wonderful time.
