Is this sold anywhere over the counter? I had researched it on google, and a few sites said it was an "over the counter remedy" for short luteal phases. However, I went to 2 drug stores and was told they did not have it and did not know if it was sold anywhere over the counter.
If my 2 + OPK's from yesterday and today are correct and ovulate, I am worried about my luteal pase not being long enough for implantation. Af came last on March 4th, which only gives me till Saturday. But besides that, last cycle, my luteal phase was only 10 days, so it is still a concern regardless of when AF last showed up. In addition, I am already taking B6 supplement to help extend my luteal phase.
If anyone knows if there is a place I can get progesterone over the counter or if I must get a prescription, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks ladies!
Re: Progesterone Cream
You can buy it at Whole Foods and GNC.
I think 10 days is okay for pregnancy. It's on the short end but I think it should be fine. I think if it is shorter than 10 days then that would be a concern.
Thanks! I normally would agree and think 10 DPO would be sufficient, but since I am due to start AF on March 4th, I would be due to start AF on 5 DPO at best, and I don't think that is enough time for implantation. I could be wrong though, but I don't want to take any chances.
I am going to pick me up some at GNC at lunch!
This doesn't make sense. I think you are confused. Your AF "due date" is directly dependent on when you ovulate. So AF will start a certain number of days after you ovulate. If you normally have a 10 day LP, AF will start 10 days after you ovulate. You should get AF at 10 DPO, not 5 DPO. Make sense?
Yeah, that does make sense, and definitely makes me feel better.
As far as the pp, I will definitely talk to my doctor before doing anything. I want to be safe for sure. Yes, i am taking B6, but have not taken it through the whole cycle.
I really appreciate you bringing this up to me. This is why I wanted to post this- none of the sites I researched yesterday mentioned the risks of progesterone cream or the risk of taking too much B6. Thanks ladies for helpign me with this one!
Thanks!
Fred is right - I have a short LP and looked into taking progesterone OTC and came across some scaaaary skin cancer pics online from that stuff.
Have you tried vitex? Jasonswife and I both had a good experience with it for short LPs. We both think it helped us get pregnant. I took vitex caps in the morning and drops in the evening - you can find it at a health food store that sells herbs. I also took red raspberry leaf drops and 50 mg of B6.
Your LP isn't that short - you should be able to get pregnant with a 10 day LP. Mine was 9.
Just because you started AF on March 4th last cycle does not mean you will start AF on April 4th. If your LP is normally 10 days then you have 10 days from ovulation until you would start AF.
Have you just started charting? Your LP is not something that should be variable. For most women it stays with in one or two days of a certian number (ie: mine was always 12-14 days).
The B6 will also help to lengthen your cycle. So your LP will most likely NOT be 10 days, it will be 10+ days. (maybe 11, maybe 13, etc)
DO NOT count yourself as LATE until after April 9th.

I have started charting, the link is in siggy. I appreciate the clarification from y'all, it is so scary to think that I researched yesterday, and some sites had no warning of the side effects! I will take the B6 and hope that helps me, and mark my calendar for the 9th. Thanks ladies, y'all are lifesavers!
