Men who don't change diapers

So, I'm watching Bringing Home Baby and the dad has been talking about how he doesn't want to change diapers.  He ended up having to change one because his wife wasn't feeling well after her c/s, and he made a big deal about "making it through without gagging."  Please.

My cousin's husband won't change "poopy" diapers (they have a 4 year old and a 1 1/2 year old) - he says he just thinks it's disgusting.  Yeah, because I'm sure it's your wife's favorite thing to do.

@ssholes!  I'm glad DH doesn't have this attitude or he would be in for a rude awakening!

Re: Men who don't change diapers

  • This is one of the reasons I like that I work evenings and DH is home with DS while I am at work. He has to deal with it. Although he is not one to not change a diaper but still I do not like Dads who let their wives do everything for the kids. You are both the parents!!!

  • Oh hell no. I would seriously throatpunch dh if he tried this with me. Fortunately I am lucky in that dept., he wants to be involved as much as possible, good and bad. He actually told me that if the baby wakes up in the middle of the night, HE will get up and walk around with her until she falls back asleep, even if it takes all night. Yea, we'll see how that goes.
  • I hate men who refuse to change diapers!  It makes me appreciate DH, who probably changes more diapers than I do.  I had a c/s and couldn't get out of bed until the next day (c/s at 12:00 pm, got out of bed at 6:00 am), so DH was on diaper duty for the first 18 hours of DS's life.
  • I was watching that show one time and the dad was a germ freak and he wore gloves and then sprayed lysol after he changed his own childs diaper. LOL!

I agree, 100%. MH is excited about everything baby (well I am sure he is not "excited" about changing diapers...) and knows he would be reamed not only be me, but by our famlies as well if he thought/did that!
  • Wow is all I have to say. My DH always said that if we had a girl he wouldn't change diapers because he thinks that is just weird. He is such a tard. Then since he is the one who really wants me to breastfeed I told him that no matter what the sex is, he is changing the diapers if I have to get up to feed. Haha he said alright... and is now more than willing because we are having a boy. Somedays I love him.
  • DH's brother in-law is the same way.  He will only watch his daughter (no longer in diapers), but not his son (still in diapers) therefore SIL is not able to go out of the house without any kids unless someone else watches him.  DH and I feel so bad for her.  DH volunteers with me in our church nursery and changes diapers there and has no problem with it.  He is such a great DH!!

  • DH doesn't have a problem with changing diapers thank goodness.  He knows he will be on call.  He said since i'm b/f its the least he could do.  Plus we have a bet riding on the March Madness tournament.  I need one more win and he gets diaper duty for the first two weeks!!!

  • I have a friends whose DH once (early on) said "I don't want to change poopy diapers".  SHe was like "Uh, neither do it!  But if neither of us did, then our DD would sit in crap all the tiem.".

He was like "Oh, uh, yeah - I see wha tyou mean".

No one WANTS to do it - but why men think that means this is an "out" for them....

And seriously- I'd beat my DH over the head if he dared to try this on me.
