I just watched an episode of Table for 12--TLC's latest "big family" show. . . I guess its a little too early to really decide. . .
I liked how involved the dad is. Sure, the kids were a bit crazy--but they have 10 kids, what do you expect? I also liked how Kevin interacted with the younger kids.
I thought that the spa thing was weird. The mom ended up taking the 10 year old girl with her--and the 10 year old got a facial and a massage while the mom got fake nails put on. Really? What 10 year old needs a facial and a massage? And what mother of 10 needs acrylic nails? I'm sure that the spa treatments were comped (as they showed the name of the spa several times). . . but really. IMO, what a waste. Oh--when they are getting ready to go home, the mom tells her daughter that she enjoyed spending the afternoon with her. Ummmm, they were in separate rooms/areas of the spa for 2 hours. That is not "time spent together".
I guess I'll watch a few more episodes. . . but unless things get more interesting, it may not stay on my DVR list. What did you think, if watched?
Re: Table for 12--anybody watch it? (spoiler)
How interesting! That would be neat to have heard about them IRL!
I have to say, despite having more kids than J&K+8, this family is more real and, IMO, normal acting. That said, I think that TLC did not do a very good job presenting, at least, the first episode. They just jumped right into the mom's birthday. . . I'd like to know more about how they got to this point. Make your viewers care first, then get on with the stories of their life.
