Infertility

Great...3 weeks post lap, my incision is partially open!

Ughhhh! Just what I need now!

I had a lap on March 3rd.  I've been kind of having itching at the incision site at the bikini line.  I looked at it today and there is a yellowish crust on it, it is very red and a portion of it is open.

Anyone ever have an infected lap site?

  • Sort of. I had a stitch come loose in the top layer. The incision was spread apart, red and oozy . It was really gross. Ick!

My reg. Dr. pulled the rest of the stitch out and cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide. It should be okay, you'll just have a bigger scar.

  • Thanks for your reply!

How long after surgery did you have it?  Mine's not oozy but definitely open and red!

I hope everything is OK. I have my first lap on April 7 and am absolutely terrified.
  • Sorry, lost our internet last night and didn't feel like resetting the router.

It happened about two weeks later. By oozing, I meant if I stuck a tissue on it, it would leave a yellowish stain. It kind of looked like a hole.

This is going to sound horrible but, I took a picture of it so I could examine it. It's such and awkward spot and I didn't want to show Dh in fear that I would traumatize him for life. :)

  • So you didn't have another stitch put in or go on antibiotics?

I know about the picture thing except I wanted my husband  to take it! lol

MVP, don't worry, rarely have I heard of people getting infections.  I just lucked out:)  The lap wasn't bad at all.  I had a few days of discomfort in my shoulders but my stomach never really hurt!  GL!

  • I just let it go. The scar is a little bigger than the others but not that bad. I'd rather have a bigger scar than get a stitch. Now that you mention it, she did put me on antibiotics just in case.
