Babies: 0 - 3 Months

paranoid-new mom question.

DD is up to her birth weight, which we were told once she got there we didn't have to wake her to feed her anymore.

BUT- I can't help but worry when she will sleep almost 4 hours between feedings! She seems really young to be going that long without food. This is not the case everytime, of course. Sometimes it is still 1.5-2 hours.

Did anyone elses LO go this long without eating this early on?

Re: paranoid-new mom question.

  • The 2nd night home, DS went 5 hours between a feeding! ?I was thankful for the sleep but still freaking out that he didn't wake up to eat. ?5 months later, he nurses every 3-4 hours AND eats his solids without a problem.

  • Overnight DS would sleep 4 hrs. no problem.

I wouldn't worry.  If she were hungry, she would wake up.

  • at this age it totally normal.
  • We got 7 hours at one point, but she had eaten every hour for like 5 hours straight.. I was extremely grateful for the sleep and didn't wake her.. that was in the first week. by her two week appt. she had surpassed her birth weight.. don't worry!!
  • It's perfectly ok once you get the go ahead from the pedi to let LO sleep that long.  I say you are blessed and lucky...take advantage of that time to catch up on your sleep.  I wish DD would sleep for 5 hours at one time!  That would be heaven!!
