Someone just asked which is better for a girl. It's supposed to be pronounced Ryan. Why do people do this?

I don't know...most of the time "creative spellings" make people seem like they can not spell.  IMO.

LMS, I am completely with you. That's sci-fi spelling. Actually, I read a fantasy fiction book with a character named Riyan. Good book, fine spelling in that context, but for a real baby? Not fair.
