Can we talk Diaper Pails???

For DS we had a Safety 1st Neat diaper pail, but over the years, it appears that the seal is starting to go on it.  For the new baby, we want to get a new pail, but the Safety 1st one has become discontinued.

So what diaper pail system do you have and do you like it?  DH and I have been thinking about  buying the new Diaper Genie Elite one ( I hated the original Genie b/c it seemed to complicated to use).

TIA

  • We have the Diaper Champ and love it (if you can LOVE a diaper pail LOL). What I like most about it is you can just use regular bags, we use small size kitchen catchers (which I buy no name/Western Family from Save On Foods) instead of having to buy expensive refills.

We got ours from BRU but it's no longer on their website; I found it on Amazon:

  • We have the Diaper Champ as well and we like it.  We were given the Diaper Genie (not sure which one specifically) as a gift and we exchanged it for the Champ because we had heard such good things.
  • when we used disposables, we used the original diaper genie.  it's really not complicated :)  It worked for us...

  • for our cloth diapers, we just have a regular plastic pail (that used to store pool pucks) in the laundry room. and with his disposibles at night, we just immediately put them outside every morning for our garbage can in the garage. I'm happy we don't have a diaper pail upstairs in the bedroom.
  • We have the diaper genie 2 elite.  I love it.  We originally just had a garbage pail but by the next day it was sooo smelly.

My friend has the diaper 2 where you have to lift the lid and push the diaper down.  I don't really like it that much.  The elite version has a foot pedal.  when you press the pedal it lifts the lid and blocks the diapers below.  you put the diaper in and take your foot off the pedal and it drops the diaper into the bag with the rest of the dirty diapers.  The only time it smells is when it's full and needs to be changed.

  • We also have the Diaper Champ & really like it.  It has good smell control & we love the fact that it uses regular kitchen garbage bags.

  • I don't really have a special pail.  If it is a wet diaper I I put it in a bag that I take out everynight at last change and if it is a code brown then I take it out to the trash right away.  No smells yet.
  • We have the First Years Clean Air Diaper Disposal.

I just feel the Genie uses so much plastic, and I already feel guilty enough using disposables.

I like our pail. It's not an "omg I can't live without this fabulous product" kind of like, but I like it alright enough to continue using it.
