Hi, hopefully someone is on here that can give me some insight.

So, I'm going to the Tyra pregnancy show and they want me to ask a question. They emailed me my question to practice, which we went over earlier today as well.

Seg 5: Labor Questions

 

I?m currently 2 months pregnant and I?m trying to learn all that I can about my pregnancy and the delivery. I?m getting so overwhelmed with all these delivery and labor terms.  It?s so confusing because I have no idea what they mean.  My friends who have kids keep throwing all these words around and I try to act like I know what they?re talking about, but there?s one term that totally stumps me. What is colostrum?

 

Now here is my issue with this question. It isn't a labor or delivery term. So the begining of the question has nothing to do with the actual question. Should I respond to her and tell her that it actually has to do with breastmilk? Or should I just suck it up and ask the question?

May5706Bride found out about it and she posted the info a few days ago on here. I guess everyone in the audience is going to be pregnant and they wanted more pregnant people? Anyway so I emailed them to be in the audience and they asked if I wanted to ask a question so I agreed. Supposidly we get freebees.

I am so disillusioned!  I can't believe they tell you exactly what to ask like that.  I always assumed there was some polling of audience members beforehand to see who had good questions, etc.  *sigh*

Anyway, it sounds like they want you to really play dumb.  If you were asking that question, you're supposed to not realize that colostrum has nothing to do with labor and delivery.  They probably just want to introduce the topic of BFing after delivery by means of a question.  I guess I'd just go with it, but I'd have a really hard time pretending I didn't know what something like that was.  I mean, come on....who is "stumped" by colostrum?  It's not like it's hard to do a search online or, I don't know, look it up in a book???  Oy.

I would definitely mention that colostrum is abut BFing.... and I would also ask why I could not just ask my own question..

They gave me a (long) list of questions to choose from. Then they changed it. Said they changed some things and asked if I knew what colostrum was, I said yes. And she said well do you want to ask it anyway? Since the other questions were alot of TMI I agreed. It doesn't seem like they really want you to ask your own questions, but I'm sure these are SOMEONES questions, LOL.

omg.. seriously? Not only do they want you to ask a question, they want you to act dumb! Colostrum IS a breastfeeding term. It has nothing to do with labor and delivery!

dude, she had NO idea what it was when she asked me and i TOLD HER what it was and that it had nothing to do with labor.........and quest yeah, my question is even dumber...........something along the lines of "how long am i going to be in labor" and i go jennifer, how can ANYONE predict that? its impossible, she said just play along like you have no idea. in other words, act dumb. MewMew,  i think we are officially trashy for being on tyra banks.......lol.
