it's called a burdizzo. it is used to castrate male animals by means of crushing the blood vessels that lead to the testicles, which leads to testicle necrosis.
if you are mad at dh, tell him about these, and that you know how to use them.
This made me lol because I worked as a vet tech at a large animal clinic in Nebraska last summer (meaning we were feedlot vets, we did a lot of castrating). I had driven to a job one of my last days there and ended up with the castrating bander (it's more humane and easier on the cattle) and a bag of bands in my pickup. I gave the bander and the bag back, but had a lot of bands get loose in my pickup. When I'd get pissed at DH, I'd just set a one of these bands on the table. This was a running joke for a long time, but I think all the bands got thrown away, I couldn't find one the last time I needed to show DH I was pissed.

Can I apologize for you having to deal with feedlot cattle? :shudder:
I am so glad we're in the middle stage. Seriously, those fuuckers SMELL.
Oh, hey Jells? DH taught me how to castrate them with a scalpel. Messy, but much faster. Can I still threaten him with the burdizzo, or should I keep the scalpel handy too?
not to start an arguement... but this is the first thing i find about banding when i google banding vs burdizzo... i do NOT consider it humane.
Pros:Inexpensive Cons:Least humane way of neutering; faulty castration technique results in retention of one testicle. Risk of tetanus. Notes: Some European countries have banned elastic band castration because officials consider it's use inhumane. I personally I feel banding is extremely inhumane. I strongly urge people to have compassion for the animal and not to use this method. Imagine putting a rubber band around your finger and then leaving it there until your finger fell off. Now imagine putting a rubber band around you own testicles and leaving it there until your tentacles died, rotted and fell off. Animals feel just as much pain as you would, and it is just as traumatic for them as it would be for you. Materials needed: Elastrator (instrument used to apply the bands), Castrating bands or rings (Do not use household rubber bands!) and tetanus antitoxin. Age of kid: Any time after the testicles descend. Technique:.....
Re: i want to teach you non-farmers about a useful tool.
but when i'm mad his *** is the only thing that doesn't bother me...
oh my jesus
Oh yes, we have many pairs of those - I think at least two pairs at home.
DH is well aware of the fact that I know how to use it. hehe

i think you would wand to keep the mess down. go with the burdizzo dear. it's the tool of choice for me.

Hey, it's faster AND easier healing than burdizzos OR banding. Especially when you're doing three loads of bulls in one day.
Plus the "aftermath" is kept anyway, so using a burdizzo or banding isn't going to work for that.
