Sulien (pronounced sull-ee-in or sil-yen) for a boy.
Thoughts? It's Welsh - "said to be the name of the most learned man in Wales" - and DH is from Wales (as in, lived there until 9 years ago). I imagine his nickname would become Sully, which I definitely like.
(Sorry for the XP from Baby Names, but I kind of have a bee in my bonnet about this one at the moment. I haven't even mentioned it to DH yet, so it's pretty likely to get an immediate veto, but it's growing on me and wanted some input...)
Re: opinions on a name - Sulien
I saw this and thought of "suleman" as in, octo-mom's last name.
just throwing that out there.

Not a fan, sorry.
I would have a difficult time figuring out how to pronounce it without your key. That turned me off of it until you said your husband is Welsh and gave the meaning. Now I give it a
. I think once people know how to say and spell it, they would think it's a good name. It's very handsome. Besides, everyone can pronounce and spell Sully (which is really cute, IMO).
A friend (who is American but whose parents are Welsh) is named Bhronwhyn. She has mixed feeling about it. No one can spell or read her name, but she also liked the originality and tie to her parents' home country. Granted, I think Sulien is much easier to say and spell.
In theory I like it, but I think it would cause pronunciation frustrations for your son throughout life.
Side note: The first couple of times I read it on my tiny resolution monitor, I didn't see the "i" and read it as sullen. Which, um, depressed me.
I honestly think it would cause your DS a lot of grief having to constantly pronounce and spell his name all his life.
