Success after IF

::Taps boobs:: Hello? Anything going on in there?

Please tell me some of you out there have had the same experience I'm having in terms of boob growth - or lack thereof! :)

I've always been a small A. First I thought going on the pill as a teen would give the girls a little boost...no luck. Then I thought when I got pregnant they'd grow...nothing. I haven't had so much as a minute of soreness, not during stims, not during the 2ww and not since the BFP. I keep reading in my pregnancy books that my boobs should feel heavy and sore as the milk production kicks in but I've felt nothing - they are exactly the same as always, which is a huge bummer for me since I was hoping to go up to at least a B (a girl can dream!)

Now I know I shouldn't complain since I imagine that's pretty darn uncomfortable but the thing is I really, really, really want to breastfeed. It's very important to me that I do it for at least a year. I'm starting to get nervous that the lack of activity means I'll have issues down the line. I've seen a few posts on here that say minimal change doesn't necessarily mean issues, but I can't help but be concerned.

I have an OB appt. on April 6 so I'll ask the doctor then but for now I'm looking for some assurance that this is perfectly fine and the chances are I'll have no issues breastfeeding. Thanks!

Re: ::Taps boobs:: Hello? Anything going on in there?

  • Def. talk to your ob about your concerns - so they can put your mind at ease!  Some women just don't experience that much "action" with the boobies while pregnant... it is absolutely NOT an indicator that you won't be able to nurse though!!  It doesn't matter what size they are either... I assure you that women with smaller girls than yours can nurse successfully!

Just you wait till your milk comes in :) you'll see!

ETA: oh jeez - you're only 9 weeks!  give it some time girl! you've got a long way to go!

  • My boobs didn't do ANYTHING until about 28 weeks or so, and then they were the tiniest bit bigger. Then, after I delivered, they got much bigger. Don't worry, at 9 weeks I had no changes at all.
  • LOL...thanks! I know it's still early but all the books, websites, pregnancy blogs, etc. talk about really sore, heavy, full, gigantic boobs as early as 5 weeks so I'm sitting here thinking my girls are defective. Thanks for the reassurance. :)

Honestly, besides the breastfeeding (which is my #1 concern) I just really want to grow even a teensy bit for purely selfish reasons.

  • My boobs were an A cup (or small B cup) and didn't grow all that much while I was pg at all.  My rib cage expanded and I needed bigger bras because of that but my cup size stayed the same.

2 days after my daughter was born my milk came in like crazy and hasn't stopped.  I have HUGE boobs (well they're huge to me) and haven't had any issues with my milk supply. My dd latched on like she'd been doing it for years and continues to feed like a champ.  The nurse at the hospital that was helping me with bf tips told me a I had a great rack for bf:) lol!

I was worried as well since they didn't do much while I was pg.  I was also worried because they never leaked or had any discharge while I was pg and I heard a lot of girls talking about that too.  Talk to your dr. about it but being on the small size didn't work against things in my case.

  • I didn't experience any pain or growth during pregnancy.  They did not change at all.  But defintley changed once my milk came in.  Everyone is different...I wouldn't worry about it!
  • I never felt anything in my breasts.  And they didn't grow until towards the end.  It will happen and you shouldn't have any issue!!
  • i hear you mama.  my boobs have barely changed at ALL, and i am now 36w with twins.  very little growth, arguabley none in fact.  cup size same.  rib cage has spread so i use bra extenders but that's it.

i also worry about the lack of nip change and leakage.  there is no indication whatsoever that there is anything going on in these bewbies... but i am just hoping VERY hard that i will have the same experience so many here have had and get lots of milk in despite all of this... we shall see...

  • Same thing happened to me during my entire first pregnancy....nothing, no growth, no soreness.....nothing. I was able to BF our dd for a year and a half with NO issues whatsoever. I know it can be worrisome but it is really no indication of breast production......I will say though a few days after she was born when my milk came it, O-M-G.....all 9 mos worth of soreness, swelling, etc. all overnight!
  • Geez, I wish mine would stop I just bought new bras, my boobs are HUGE.

I hope you boost to a B soon:)

  • As a former B myself, I'm happy to report that the girls have graduated up to a D in the last few weeks!  Never thought I'd see that size in my lingerie drawer!  :)

I think my growth was fairly slow and only really noticed over the past month or so that I really needed new bras.  It might just be too early.  Hang in there!

  • I wouldn't worry too much yet. I haven't breastfed yet, but in both of my pregnancies I haven't had any soreness at all and they didn't change at all in size or feel heavy. But when I gave birth to our twins at only 23 weeks, my breasts were TOTALLY full of milk and leaked sporadically for several months afterwards, which I took as a sign that if my babies had been around I would have likely been able to breastfeed. I don't think lack of pain/growth necessarily means anything. Good luck!
