im a horrible mommy
// i had to cut DS's nails this morning with his little baby nail clipper. This is always a struggle for us and i try to hold him gently but firmly everytime. Well - this time he yanked away from me and I ended up clipping his skin.
(((((((((( omg i feel So SO BAD. No skin came Off but it was bleeding and he cried. I tried to distract him, wiped it off, sucked on it a little, gave him a bottle and he is fine. But now when I look at it, I see dried blood around the cut and a little flap of skin that seemed to be nipped...... i feel terrible poor little guy.
Would you put anything on it? Should I cover it with mittens? A bandaid doesnt make sense b/c he always brings his fingers to his face, mouth, eyes. Should I try Aquaphor on it and stick a mitten over? Would u use any disinfectant? I dont want it getting infected. Am i overeacting here?
Ugh!
Re: i feel so friggin bad....
I cut his nails when he is asleep. There isn't much of a struggle then
Don't feel bad, it happens to everyone. I do it almost every time on at least one finger. ?=(
I wash it, put bacitracin on, then a bandaid so nothing gets on the cut, and then a mitten so she doesn't eat the bandaid. Usually leave that on until the next bath time.
PS. It's much easier when they're asleep... less chance of movement.?
thanks for hte help!! is bacitracin ok for them this little??
he hates the nail file.
He'll be fine! It happens.
I trim DD's nails when she's asleep. I tried to do it earlier today while DH was holding her and she was being a little rascal about it.
DS will be fine, don't worry!
I cut DD really bad once. She didnt cry to much but it bled for a long time! DH used to be a paramedic so he had some stuff he put on it with a bandaid. This happened in the evening so before I put her to bed for the night, I took the bandaid off and it had stopped bleeding by then.
Now I make sure I do it in good light!
?
They gave her bacitracin in the hospital when she had scratches from all of their tags, so I guess it's ok! Can probably also use neosporin also, though I haven't tried it. Just as long as they don't eat it, don't see why not!?
