Infertility

Hi, an official introduction

I actually posted yesterday for the first time.  I have spent that last 7 months or so on the Getting Pregnant board.

We are off to see an RE 4/7 to address male infertility (5% motility).  I also just got a call from my OB/GYN nurse last night saying my thyroid test came back elevated.  I haven't processed that information through my brain yet and am feeling a bit overwhelmed.  Here is my original post from yesterday if you are interested:

From the lurking I have done, I have learned a lot and happy to see how supportive you are with everyone's individual journeys.

  • I'm sorry you have to be here, I hope your stay is short.  The ladies on this board are fabulous and will help you every step of the way.  Welcome.

  • I'm sorry you have to be here, but welcome! My DH also has low motility as his only SA issue (3% on 1st SA, 5% on 2nd). Are your husband's other numbers normal?? If so, we have a really similar MFI diagnosis. Have you been to a urologist? If not, I would suggest going to one along with your RE appointment, since RE's typically treat the female IF issues. Depending on your husband's count, the RE might suggest IUI or IVF as treatments for the low motility. However, a urologist *might* be able to find something treatable in your DH (usually a varicocele or hormone issues) that could improve his motility.

I'm sorry I have no advice about the thyroid issue, but I know how hard it is to feel like you both have issues. :( Good luck and keep us posted!

(BTW, my first RE appointment is 4/10!)

We are adopting! Currently waiting for our domestic infant adoption match.

His other numbers cam back normal.  Its just the motility that is low.  We were referred to a fertility clinic that has RE and urologists on staff.  When I called to make an appointment, they recommended we start with the RE and go from there.

  • Hi mamabear, welcome to the board.  I remember you from D&R, you have a beautiful home.  I am sorry to hear about your DH's SA results and your thyroid levels.  You are taking a step in the right direction by meeting with an RE, they will definetly be able to help you achieve your dream of becoming a mom!  This is a very supportive board, I hope your stay here is a short one!!!
