And they said that some women compare the smell of amniotic fluid to comet cleanser. Awesome. They also said that it could be pink, clear, green, or brown (but green and brown are bad).
I decided to look it up because with DD they broke my water, so I'm kind of trying to figure out what I'll feel if it breaks on its own. Does it feel like you have to pee and then fluid just gushes out? Or does it just pop and gush out like a water balloon? I know it can just leak, so I'm preparing myself for the gushing thing (just in case I'm at work and my water feels the need to break in front of a patient--if I'm prepared it will probably be less embarrassing lol).
Re: I was just reading about a woman's water breaking...
My water broke with my son, and I knew I was not peeing myself. I would stand up and it would keep coming. You have no control over it like you might when you are peeing. I did not gush, but it kept coming.

That's what happened to me. But I was expecting it then so it made it easier since I knew what was going on...I'm not sure what to expect with a spontaneous rupture, so I was just curious.
They broke mine at the hospital, but i don't remember feeling it. i already had the epi at that point, and i think it just trickled out. I remember asking "did i just pee myself or is that my water breaking?"
**Hoping it does not break and gush in public this time**
Mine felt like I was peeing but I couldn't stop it. I had actually gotten out of bed to pee at 3am and on my way to the bathroom it broke. It wasn't much and if I would have been out and about I don't know if anyone would have noticed.
I don't remember a smell and it was mostly clear with a little pink tinge.
I think only 15-20% of women have their water break before labor starts, so the chances of it happening in front of a patient are pretty slim. :-)
